Flying northwest airlines with a baby? Checked stroller AND carseat?
I’m flying in about 2 weeks with my daughter, my husband and my grandparents. My daughter is 13 months old and will be flying for free as a lap passenger. I plan on bringing her carseat because I’ve been told they will give her a seat if there is one available. I know they will check it for free if there isn’t. My question is if I bring an umbrella stroller will they charge me to check that too if they have to check the carseat?

They usually do not charge to check strollers BUT I would call the airline to make sure. They have been adding a lot of charges lately.

No, they will let you check those right before you board the plane, right at the gate.

Air Canada (which is a partner of Northwest) allows a stroller and car seat to be checked for free either at the ticket counter or at the gate. I just flew with my 8 week old and I would recommend bringing a clear plastic garbage bag for each in case the airline doesn’t provide one. That’ll help keep your things clean and safe, many airlines aren’t providing the bags anymore

You can check the stroller at the gate before you get on the plan that way you have it when you land. The carseat you can check for free.
So if I were you I would check the carseat. Bring the stroller and do a gate check with it.

I would check the carseat. Its too much of a hassle. I would just have the little stroller checked at the gate. Thats what I do. I fly with my son allllll the time. He is 11 months now. Been on 12 plane rides. But typically you only get one carry on for the baby thats free. Depends on who rings you up to. My last flight was the ONLY freakin flight that I was charged for his checked carseat. Usually I have my bag and then his carseat. And I only have to pay for my bag. But this last time I had to pay for both.
But yeah…I wouldnt have his carseat as a carry on or checked at the gate. Just bring his stroller.
