How many of each baby clothing sizes should I get?
My circle of friends and I have divided things to purchase for our friend’s baby-to-be. I’m in charge of clothing, while everyone else has taken care of diapers, stroller, crib, etc.
I know babies grow fast, so I didn’t buy too many newborn outfits. How many 3-12 months in clothing size would be sufficient? This is their first baby. Thanks in advance!

That is a difficult question to answer…because in part it depends on how big the baby is when born…and how much money you are looking to spend. My son was 10 lbs when born…so he never wore newborn sizes,,,went straight to 0-3 and wasn’t in them too long. You also don’t know how quickly baby will grow…so buying through 12 months could be tricky unless you live in an area where the climate doen’t change much. My son is now 9 months old…do you believe he wears size 24 months! We would have never predicted it. I would recommend buying maybe a few 0-3 and more 6-9…better a little big than small.
I would also recommend if it isn’t on someone’s list at least one swaddler and at least one sleepsack.
Good Lucka nd have fun!!! Lucians Mommy

Really hard to predict… I wouldn’t buy too many of each size until the kid hits size 12mo or 18mo and plays outside in the mud, but it depends. Some babies spit up a lot the first half year or so and could use more clothes (or you’d have to do laundry all the time). Also, make sure that the clothes are for the right season, and try to find clothes that are easy to put on and take off. I’d say buy no more than 4 outfits in each size, especially because she might get more from family or whomever, and maybe buy more later if turns out she needs more. Like, “surprise, I bought your baby another onesie because he turned 6 months!”. Also, buy two sleepers in each size, they’re really handy because babies are usually notorious for not staying under the blankets. Ian
