How old was your baby when you first took her (or him) out? Just for a walk, to be outside about 30 minutes?

What special steps did you take? I’m much more “outdoorsy” now than I was 13 years ago when my 1st baby was born. My neighborhood is optimal for walking, running, strolling with or without baby. Also, what is the hottest//coldest temps that you take your baby outside in? I have a jogging stroller, baby buntings, coats, hats and an Infant “Bundle Me” Bunting for cool/cold weather. Thanks for your answers!

    Like a month old.

probably about 2 1/2 months to 3 months old. Hottest temps, maybe 85 F, and coldest, maybe 55 F? I don’t know. You’ll know when you step outside. If you’re uncomfortable, so is your baby. Have fun, and enjoy the weather!

About 3 weeks, we went camping over Memorial Day weekend, and it was in the 90’s the whole time. We also had an air conditioned camper, so we could put her in when she got too hot or fussy. Amazingly, she liked being out more than in!! With the second one, we took her out at 2 weeks. She was born in June, and she loved the heat as well!! I would say if it is too hot/cold for you, it is too hot/ cold for your baby.

I didn’t go by any age regulations, I just took my babies out when I was ready. Sounds like you have everything you need to keep him/her comfortable. I do, however have to refrain from taking my 3mo. old on our daily walks now because we are having temp. of 90-100. I don’t take him out if it’s like 90 or more, since he is a sweathog anyway! You’ll be able to tell when your baby isn’t tolerating something. She will most likely get fussy, or fidgety. Have fun

when my daugheter was born she had a slight case of jaundice so we had to take her outside and let her get a minute or 2 of sunight when she was about 4 days old. the first time I really took her out was when she was about 2 weeks old. we went to this park and just walked, she slept the entire time so she didn’t even know it.

also, if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your baby too. just dress her appropriately for the occasion. enjoy!

My son was born in June and we had him camping within a couple weeks.Brought my rubbermaid dish basin for bath time.We had a trailer so that was helpful but still got lots of fresh air.Used the pram a lot with netting over it to keep out bugs and chose a shady site so we did not have to worry about the sun.By July the bugs are pretty light. We found the fresh air made him sleep better and we felt good being out.

My first son was born in March (in Michigan) and it was cold. We took him out for a walk for the first time in mid-April. It was still in the 40s, but he was bundled well and we had his face shaded from the wind.

My second son was born in July, and we took him for a walk a few days after he was born.

The main concern is to shade your baby from the elements (bundle him up in the cold and dress him cool and keep him shaded in the heat.) The hottest or coldest temps that either of my kids have been through was probably about 15 degrees. We didn’t go out on a walk…I was taking my older son to day care. He was probably about 9 or 10 months old, and I had to walk him outside to get in the car. The hottest…well, we live in GA now, and it’s pretty flippin’ hot here. We haven’t gone on a walk in ages…too humid and hot, but we do go to the pool occasionally. I get him and his little brother slathered up with sunscreen, grab two big sippy cups of icewater, and we head off. Probably in the mid-90s a couple times that we’ve gone. The pool is in the shade though.

I had to start taking my babies out as soon as they were born. They have to go with you when you take them to the DR. My husband had to go back to work after they were born and I had to do everything like I did before(shopping errands etc). They are infants and usually do a lot of sleeping anyways. They don’t mind as long as you feed them and change them…take care of their needs when they arise. As far as the temperature goes….listen to them…..they will let you know if they are not comfortable. Check them and make sure they aren’t too hot and try removing some clothing. In cold weather keep them bundled up and continue to keep a check on them and make sure they “feel” okay. Keep the wind off them. They can pretty much endure what we endure under certain circumstances. I think taking your baby out with give him a love for the outdoors! Both of mine go out every chance they get! Good Luck!!

my baby was born in august. I started taking her out for short walks around the yard in comfortable clothes so she wouldn’t get over heated. I tried staying in shady places so she wouldn’t get to hot.f For cold weather I bundled her up and took short walks outside

I live in Mississippi on the coast. My son was born in January, but it doesnt get extremely cold here. I probably took him to the store when he was a couple weeks old I guess. Just make sure you bundle it up if its cold and take along a bottle.

well i ad my son in may, and needed a bassinet so i went to the mall when he was like 5-7 days old. no harm. you are your own parent, do what you want. people have their own opinions on that. some are to strict.

I took Jacob, my son, out when he was 2 1/2 months old. Same with Grace, my daughter. The coldest I would take them out in was 60 degrees, and the hottest was 80 degrees.
