How to repair antique baby stroller tire?

baby stroller
William F asked:

Am restoring a couple of vintage baby strollers….One wheel has part of the rubber tire missing…about an inch or so from the sides…Getting a replacement is all but impossible so is there anything I can use to fill in the gaps…some kind of silicone rubber????

Since the stroller is antique, I would do nothing as your work could affect the value. michael

I have to agree with Michael, given that they may have intrinsic value and sentimental value as well as monetary value. If at some point they are to become mere aesthetic, decorative pieces, then it hardly matters. I want to assume they will not actually be used as strollers, but I’ve been wrong more than once in my life.
