Stroller covered up by a blanket?

baby stroller
mishka asked:

I have seem allot of people on the streets or in malls covering a baby stroller with a blanket. I have never done that or know anyone that does it. Why do they do it? What is the benefit of it?

    Sun and/or cold protection.
You must not live where it gets very cold!

I’m just guessng but its Probably because their child is sleeping and they don’t want the light to wake them…..

It keeps the sun off the baby. My very first stroller did not have a hood that pushed all the way forward, so we had to cover it up.

Some people do it so that the baby gets uninterrupted sleep. Sometimes the baby might be distracted by what is going on outside the pram that they don’t fall asleep.
Other options are for protection from sun, wind etc.
Also, to stop people prying in and waking or annoying baby. You know, the grandmother types who come up to you and pinch your cheeks etc

To keep the sun, rain, or cold weather off the baby.

most of the time it is done with small babies because when you r in public people like to tuch baby when you r out in public and also when you r out doors it stops the wind from blowing near babys ears and giving them an ear infection

Thats very true I was wondering too… . but I have also seen people putting both blanket and a plastic cover. but I think its just to keep the cold from getting inside. u know how some people use the plastic covers instead..

To keep sun, wind off baby or to keep baby warm.

I think they prob. do it to keep germs or the cold air off their babies. Also to keep the bright lights and nosy people who don’t know better than to touch other peoples kids without asking off them. I personally don’t do it but I do use the sun shade at times on my stroller for that reason.

I did it usually to keep the sun off my baby because sometimes the stroller canopy wasn’t big enough. Sometimes its also to keep the wind off the baby.

I always did this for my niece when she was little. Outside a lot of it was to keep the sun off of her as she is very light skinned and would burn easily. Inside I did it because I didn’t like everybody stopping to look at her. I wasn’t overly protective just didn’t like people coming up and getting their germs all over her.

I do that with my 4m/o twins. I used to do it all the time with them when they were about 2m/o, because of it being flu/RSV season. It kind of keeps nosy ppl from getting too close & getting germs on them. Don’t get me wrong, I kept them in the house ’til they were right at 2 months, but it was nearly impossible to NOT go to the store occasionaly. Also, there were times when there was a dreadfully cold wind, and the blanket kept it off of them.
