Strollers VS Prams (baby carriages)?

baby strollers
Suddenly Me asked:

In my mum’s day everyone used a pram for the newborn baby.
I’m wondering why they aren’t in use anymore, and why ppl favor Strollers, and are there any stroller types that have the baby facing the pusher?

When my babies were young, I used the “pram” / “baby carriage” as her bed. It fit well between my bed and the wall.
When it was time to walk my son to school, it was very easy to roll his sleeping sister out the door and down the sidewalk, without needing to wake and jostle her.

    Some of the draw-backs are:
–the baby will climb out, and fall in just a few months.
    –the baby is not strapped-in.
–in the US we seldom walk from home, we do use our cars constantly
–baby is safer in and out of the car and the stroller when strapped-in. It keeps them in a good sitting position, and helps to make sure there are no injuries, especially in the first 6 mo. when the baby is in the portable car-stroller-seat.
    – Yes, there are stroller types, where the handle will switch to either forward or backward positions.
–Prams are difficult to fold and fit into today’s small cars. Strollers are usually more compact and lighter weight.

If you are ever wanting to lose weight - push the pram with 2 children in it. It was like pushing a lawn-mower!

hi people use strollers because they are light weight and easy to use. when your mum had you pushchairs were heavy and your mum probably walked every where because she didn’t have transport ie cars and buses.you can still get light weight pushchair with carrycot and the sit that can face you but they are heavier than strollers. some pushchair that face you are quinny buzz, loola, bugaboo, icandy apple and britax. have a look online. just think how you will be using the pushchair ie will you be taking it in hte car , will it fit in the boot. if i was you go down to your local baby shop and have a look it may help . if you have any questions about pushchair/ stroller just email me as i work in a baby shop and have experienced pushchairs as i have a 8 month old baby. good luck x
