My baby is almost 4-months old now and about 16lbs. We started using the stroller instead of the carseat because she seems to fuss less when we're out when she can see what's going on around her. It seems to me though, that even with a weeks-old baby, the stroller could be used if placed in the lowest reclined position so that the baby is fully laying down. We didn't do that but it does seem that it could safely be done since there's a full harness system just like in the carseat.

We have the Eddie Bauer Endeavor Travel System btw, which I don't recommend at all since it's way too bulky and difficult to maneuver.

at any age you feel comfortable placing them there, i would suggest using the seat belt though. most have a reclining seat for if your baby cant sit up by themselves or they fall asleep.

My son has hated being leaned back even the slightest bit, so starting about 2 months he would not ride well in the stroller unless he was in the actual stroller part so that I could sit him up a little more. He has had great head control since he was born so I wasn't worried about that. I even had to switch him to a convertible car seat because his infant seat reclines too much and he would just scream every time I went somewhere in the car. I would say you could put a baby in at almost any age, but depending on the age and stability of the Baby's head would depend on how much you lean it back or sit it up. I know my stroller seat goes flat, so a newborn baby could ride in it.

our son was born 2 months early so I'm glad I got a travel system. I would just hook his carseat on for a while...but then I think at around 3 months when he was about 10 lbs I would put him in the stroller itself (reclined of course) for short periods of time. He's 8 months old now and about 16.5 lbs and HATES to be in that carseat in the stroller...he likes to see where he is going...he actually hates to be in that little carseat period. We started putting him in a convertable seat around 5 months old when he was about 13 lbs.

As long as a baby has strong neck support he can sit in the large stroller. At 5 months, I'm sure he is more than ready. If it looks like he is uncomfortable, you can always use blankets as added support or recline the seat a little bit. I started putting my daughter in the big stroller around 4.5 months. She seems way more comfy and loves being able to look out at the world while we walk.
