What tandem/double stroller to get for a toddler and newborn?

baby stroller
Baby#2dueJuly09 asked:

I have a 2 year old and am expecting baby #2 in July. I don’t know much about double strollers, I know there are the side by side ones and the tandem where there is one seat behind the other. What would you suggest for the ages of my children? I am looking for something that isn’t too expensive. Also, I have heard that some strollers only take baby car seat carriers of the same make (ie Graco) I have an Evenflo infant car seat so I need something that would hold that.

side by side strollers are very bulky and hard to fit through door ways… i personally like sit and stand strollers.. here is one from walmart for about $100, it fits most infant carries, take a look, and they also have others at walmart to!

Get a Joovy Caboose or another stroller that has the infant seat and attachment for your car seat. Another option would be just to get a buggy board and attach it to the back of your current single stroller for your older child to stand on. Some older toddlers are fine with standing because they don’t like the seat and are good about staying near mom. If yours isn’t that, then go for the Caboose or Sit’n Stand by Babytrend. The Sit’n Stand comes with a full seat that converts to a bench seat when your oldest is even bigger.

The Joovy Ultralight is fantastic … really a great stroller that is perfect for a toddler and newborn together. It’s light, folds small, offers the standing/sitting platform in the back and is very durable. You can see a video and pictures of it here …
