We started using the stroller without the carseat the travel system came with at 3 months. He loved to sit up by holding on to the snack tray or by himself alot, so he was really happy.

You can put them in the stroller right away...on the lowest setting...my son hated the infant car seat. Its just for convenience that it attaches to the stroller

With a metrolite, you can be putting the baby in the actual stroller now. As long as the stroller back can recline more than 45 degrees (which the metrolite does), it is safe to place babies under 6 months old directly in the stroller. You may want to use the head rest that comes with the car seat ( and sometimes the stroller) just to support the babies head if you are going to be on a bumpy surface.

You will need to recline the stroller back to at least 45 degrees to make sure the baby's head does not fall forward and obstruct its airway and then you are good to go.

Make sure its reclined.

While he can hold his head 'well', he's going to be exhausted if he's trying to hold it up for a long time.

Our kids rode in the car seat till they were no longer using the car seat. If they're reclined, they'll be fine, but they're happier to be in the car seat, facing you.

as long as the stroller reclines--you can put him in now
otherwise--when he is able to sit (with your support or without) and not 'bob' his head/neck around

He can go in the stroller at any time, especially if it is reclined back some and you support him with some blankets so he doesn't slouch to the side, but personally, I don't know why you would want to. You can see the baby better in the carseat because they are facing you, and if they fall asleep, you can transport them after your trip without waking them up or moving them around. Just my oppinion!

i have a 2 &1/2 mnth old baby, i put him in his stroller already. I just lay him down, his stroller is for newborns and up. He should be fine if its the right stroller.

I would say when the baby is 4 months, but some people put the baby in the stroller without the carseat as a newborn. It's your baby, do as you please.

You could put him in there now. You can put a rolled up blanket on either side of him so he doesn't bounce around, and lay the seat all the way down. Check the manual first, to see if it says anything, but we took my daughter on walks that way.
